1992 PORSCHE 911 (964) CARRERA RS

101,262 km - Manual LHD - 3.8L Flat-Six 

An excellent, relatively low mileage example of one of the most iconic 911s ever created. The bodywork and paintwork is in very good condition, mechanically it benefits from significant recent work.

The odometer displays 101,262 km (63,289 miles) from new.

This left hand drive "C00" coded Carrera RS was built for the German market and first registered on 30th June 1992. It was owned by Tomas Schmitz for a while in its early years before being imported and registered in the UK by the previous owner on 15th September 1999, then showing 49,000 kms on the odometer.

The current owner purchased the car on 21st September 2005.

 About 100 964RS cars were built with flat-six 3.8-litre engines and used the designation M64/04.

The engine originally installed in this car was the more standard flat-six 3.6-litre with the designation M64/03 and produced about 260bhp in stock form. Prior to being imported to the UK, the engine was upgraded to 3.8-litre by SHK in Germany. The engine number still matches the original factory number. It now produces in excess of 310bhp.

The car has been in the current ownership for 17 years and has been in storage in a heated, dehumidified garage for much of the last 8 years.

This 964 RS benefits from an extensive topend engine rebuild completed in October 2022.

The vehicle is presented in classic Porsche black with a black leather interior, triple blue Recaro bucket seats, blue fabric door pulls and seat belts, "Carrera RS" embroidery on the parcel shelf, black carpets trimmed in blue, maritime blue bolt-in roll cage and an Alcantara trimmed Momo steering wheel.

The upgraded engine sports RS01 cams, titanium race valves and seats, Supercup Mahle barrels and pistons, ported cylinder heads, race headers, mass air flow with large air intake and large throttle body with Hotfilm.It also boasts twin thermostatically controlled oil coolers, stainless steel RS exhaust, a front strut brace and Big Red Turbo S brakes using 330mm disks. Two brake cooling ducts now feature where the original front side lights would have been.

It rides on the correct 17-inch five spoke RS magnesium alloy wheels that have just been crack tested and refurbished by the specialist company TPCS near Devises. The wheels are shod in brand new Pirelli P-Zero tyres. The car will also be supplied with a set of Cup 2 wheels shod in new road tyres.

The car is supplied with the original owner's manuals, stamped service book, space saver spare wheel, first aid kit and warning triangle, along with numerous maintenance invoices.

The condition of the Black paintwork is very good. The coachwork was resprayed in 2014 prior to the car going into storage.

Inside the car, the cabin and gauges present well. There are no warning lights present on the dashboard.  The car has recently passed an MOT first-time with no advisories. The current MOT is valid until 25/10/2023

The latest maintenance was performed in October 2022 by AMS Porsche. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change and fuel filter change post top end engine work.

Prior to this the car was regularly serviced by a variety of Porsche specialist outlets, including Jaz Porsche and JZM.

 This Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS is a well preserved example of the sought-after analogue lightweight sports car, widely considered to be one of the very best Porsche 911`s ever made.

Limited to a production run of only 2,282, the cars were built for maximum driver involvement with improved suspension and an almost obsessive focus on weight-saving.

This particular example of the marque may not appeal to someone looking for total factory originality just adding it to their collection. However, it most certainly will to almost everyone else seeking the thrill of hearing its flat-six engine note and experiencing its fully involving handling on the open road.
